Well, it's a complex problem. Who tells us what to do, I wonder? IN the EU we are part of a team, making decisions that are far from perfect. OUT of the EU, will we not just become America's puppy, to pet or kick as they find convenient? We often seem to be that now. My parents and grandparents fought the Germans but I haven't: now I am welcome to travel or work in that beautiful country and call Germans my friends.
And that's the nub, for me. I know the EU costs us money we can ill afford and makes restrictions that chafe but with all its faults and evasions and self interest, it stands for humanity and compassion; for human rights and justice; for universal education, culture and civilisation. In it, we can help to make it better. Out of it, we find ourselves cosying up to President Trump. I am not one of those who you refer to - I won't gain a penny by staying in, I will probably lose some, but I will still vote for Europe!
Leave, leave, leave. I'm half Italian Julie but I'm sure we'll be ok :-) I remember full well what happened to Ireland and I don't want to be part of that.
If the Common Market, or the European Economic Community, still existed I would be voting to stay in. When we joined up it was for the formation of a trading entity, not for nameless and faceless beurocrats in Brussels to control almost every aspect of our lives.
Now we have the European UNION, with UNION being what Brussels wants. No national identity, or national control.
My father, rest his soul, was a military man, army through and through, and consequently I grew up as a military brat. My mother, also rest her soul, died five years ago at the age of 93. All through my formative years I learnt from the hand that fed me what it was to be patriotic. Towards the end of my mother's life, she turned to me and whispered "I pity your grandchildren, what sort of country are we leaving them". She was right. The day we have no service personnel on the streets, the day we look after the young men and women that are still to this day, protecting us, the day we honour truthfully just what our parents did, that is the day I might change my mind on Europe. Maybe I am living in the past, maybe I am just naive, but all the money we send abroad, in my mind, should be spent at home on the people that deserve it - not the migrants, not the corrupt governments abroad and definitely not the Sheiks and like, that won't help their own people.
Totally agree with you Mynx, any doubters should watch the video link provided by Hortico earlier, if you weren't out before, you certainly should be after viewing that!
I looked on that websire BBC choives reality check, if that is Unbiasedthen I'm a dutch monkets uncle!!! No I have to say most politicians are not known for being straight talking.. One of the few I would trust is Ian Duncan Smith..
There are a lot of warped threats and the scaremongering, so its hard to be certain.. We have had 40 yearsof the EU telling us what strain of veg to grow and what substances to not sprinkle on our emerging seedlings.. I used to have a magic pot of weed suppressor nade by PBI it got bannned of course... Why? Cos it workedgreat.
Aside from all that Hindsight is a wonderful thing so theysay and.. after 40 years of this I am voting for a change to I will Vote LEAVE...

My gut is telling me out, but like KT53, I simply don't trust any politician of any party to tell the truth.

Just my opinion.
