Zenjeff...On the packet of seeds it says Rudbekia Marmalade. I couldn't work out how it grew so tall either! Maybe it is a sunflower but I've never had them before. Isn't your one called Black Eyed Susan, Zenjeff?

Aym...I thought I was the only one who had Poached Eggs!!

Lovely flowers everyone. I especially like the dark Penstemon Garnet of Pap Jo's...and the White Prairie....I really like those.

What a great flower the Bottle Brush has GD. Really is a one off kind of plant.

    Love that Echinacea Aym.

That would be very nice Aym. Does a Sunflower only have one flowering head? Only this one has another 6 or so buds further down the stem. And yes, the stalk does have bristly hairs on.

Thank you Zenjeff. I've got a trough full of them in seedling stage. To begin with I planted them in a border as seeds and the only one that came up turns out to be a Sunflower!! It is a lovely flower but for me, I'm afraid the flower doesnt make up for the rest of the plant. Bah!

A trough full of Sunflowers.....I'm gonna cry!

  • sorry it's been a while...

    lovely pictures everyone.

Papi Jo, your photos are amazing. You make a talented pair with your wife's potery! (Garden pictures 2016 thread)

Aym, your white swan echinacea has probably run away with mine... the other ones are doing great but those are nowhere to be seen.

My garden is so dry, a lot of plants are suffering... But a few worth a pic

bishops's children. I'm very impressed with those. The colours are amazing and there is a good variation    of foliage.

  • Very pretty Dahlia aym280. I love the shape of the pompom varieties. My Dahlia from seed looks nothing like I thought it would either, it is huge nearly 5ft tall, the seeds came from a dwarf variety ( maybe I should have pinched it outimage) I didn't realise they do not come true from seed. There is also a difference in my flowers when there has been lots of sunshine they open with a pink/purple flush. When it has been dull for a period of time the flowers open all cream.

Not been on for a few days as we have had some nice weather finaly. Some fabulous shots on the thread since my last visit and some flowers I have not seen before, I always end up looking them up.

Just a few snaps taken today:

Linaria - Fairy Bouquet.  I started these late in june from seed and they are only just starting to flower.
