I spent the first 50 years of my life mainly growing Cactus with the odd flower thrown in but I haven't had so much fun in the garden (!!!!) as I have had this year with beetroot, geums etc. etc. The first picture is for Verdun, I love these bright tagetes, which are easy enough to grow even for my limited expertise Rudbeckia Toto GoldGolden Oldie RoseCallistemon or Bottle Brush
You won't be disappointed Joyce. Easy to grow, high germination success and gorgeous, long lasting flowers. Easy to collect seeds, so if you would like some just message me your address and I will be happy to collect some for you in a few weeks time when they have finished flowering.
"papi jo's begonia has really put paid to uploading mine. Mine is a single and boring. His is so beautiful and full of details. The garnet is captured with such a wonderful blur as a backdrop. Very arty. I'm convinced that papi is a photographer!"
Thanks for your appreciation, aym280! I indeed fancy myself as an (amateur) photographer with an interest in nature. More photos on my photo site at http://www.rezeau.org/wp-photo/en/welcome/
Re my begonia, it has both "single" and "double" flowers on it. Single flowers look like the one you posted. Not sure whether the difference in flowers matches "male" and "female".
I planted 3 specimens of Campanula x‘Pink octopus’ last year, because they looked so original in the nursery. They gave quite a few flowers in the summer and also extended new shoots. However this season they have been extremely disappointing, with a grand total of ONE flower so far.
Hello 199, your Calendula are so bright and vibrant, a perfect flower and one that the bees adore, I have an oxalis but it doesn't look anywhere near as healthy as your plant, as for Rudbeckia - I grew some Dwarf variety this year that has grown to almost 3 foot tall, but the Toto Gold's are smaller and more manageable, Love the clematis President. Nice photos.
Thank you kindly Aym Yes, number 6 is indeed the mini petunias/surfinia/calibrachoa. They are one of my favourites this year - the bees also love them to death. Quite a lot of dead heading though!

Hi everyone.
Been a while...frantically searching for an 8 month old kitten that decided to saunter back in after 3 days missing!
Calendula

Oxalis. A gift from OH (other half, Ahem!)
Maybe should have something green behind it, so it stands out more.
Rudbekia Marmalade...seed packet says height 18 inches. This one is currently 6ft 2 "!!!
Clematis President
Not sure if the camera shows it, but it's a fantastic colour purple that changes with the light.
