Aym did that frilly poppy come as a potted plant or in a pack of bareroots? It's truly stunning and I want one very much. It is a perennial oriental type isn't it? My Honeybells are in their third year. I had 7 but 2 got damaged by me and my trowel so I'll get some more this autumn. The Night Owl iris smells like lilac blossoms and vanilla. The Oklahoma Bandit was a reduced bareroot but it was firm and chunky so I thought I'd give it a chance. Could you really chuck out your beardies? Give them one more year, just lift them after they've flowered and replant with plenty of grit underneath, give them some fbb and chop the leaves quite short and let the sun power them up.
I bought a couple of my irises from the Range, Desert Echo (yellow) , Night Owl (purple) both scented and rebloomers and some tree lillies Laron, when they were 3 packs for a fiver. They have all grown brilliantly and this year l divided the irises for the first time, they never died down over winter cause it was so mild and were massive. The babies are nice and leafy and might flower later this summer. Oklahoma Bandit and my white/ blue veined Immortality iris l bought from Otter Nurseries, our localish garden centre. My favourite GC only in Devon though, so not much use for you in Essex Aym. Do you have a decent GC near you that might sometimes have rarieties/ special deals? Otter does deals early March for irises potted up rooted rizomes in 1L pots, 2 for six quid or £3.99 each. I've never bought from T and M, l know they're not much liked on this forum. My son had tried to order me a peony l admired from them but they changed the delivery time from April to end of August so he got a refund instead and bought me a very healthy multi budded Bowl of Beauty peony from B and Q, can't wait to see it in bloom.
Well now Aym280, i think you've just thrown a pigeon in a garden full of cats, I'm very new to this and i didn't realise there were so many more, and I've just fell in love with too many more!!! Small garden...what do i take out to make way for more of these??
aym 280 absolutely love those California poppies. So bright and cheery. They're lovely plants. I had some last year but sowed them far too late and whilst some flowered the plants flopped down all the time and never stood up. I probably didn't have enough other foliage around to give them support. It's lovely to see them in your garden.

Absolutely stunning, definitely want the last one, (and the middle one and the top one!!)
Just looked at a site that had a couple of miniature ones, very pretty. Will certainly be making room for at least 2 or 3 rock roses very promptly
Are you sure there are no magic beans involved??

I love the ruffled poppy. Is it "curlilocks"?
Arrived since yesterday, all coming up at the same time all over the garden:
