Did a bit of weeding, but now its too hot again. There is a bit of a breeze, so I have parked my posterior on a deckchair to stop it blowing away (the chair that is - it would takea strong gale to despatch my posterior)
Talking of rambling roses, I was very excited this morning to see bits of Paul's Himalayan Musk protruding from near the top of a large holly tree. Its taken 6 years, but I think its bid for world domination is about to start......but that was the general idea, so I am delighted.
Sorry to hear mean PMs have been circulating again. I don't use PMs much - not got much "secret" to say - but can't help thinking it would have been good if they had been a casualty of the revamp
Short day, a hill I've done before, not too hot on the hill but the car thermometer was reading 19 on the way home about 4ish. Nice day slightly spoiled by the traffic jam caused by an a**e on a motor bike. When will they ever learn...
No pickaxe Joyce - did as I was told today... Lovely view of 'your' Cruachan hills too. I'll post a few pix later. The lower slopes are all covered in bluebells just now. Heard the Arrochar cuckoo. First time this year. I had to laugh when I was approaching the car. Three people were on the rocks in the burn (which is right by the layby at the start of the walk) ....trying to start a barbecue. Has the world gone completely mad?
I say - name and shame doc. No need for that nonsense.
Don't think I could cope with that sort of journey obelixx. Even without the ferry crossing! Looking forward to your pix-I'll take a swatch at them later.
I was going to do some steaming Liri, but never quite got round to it. I feel much better though thanks. Just wish my food tasted of something!
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Before that, busy day in garden, assisted by OH. I like it when she helps, not only do we get more done, and she is happy to do the less "gardeny" bits, but it is nice to have constructive criticism about bits she does not like. Sometimes goes a bit far though!
Spicy meat balls for dinner, but a G@T in the garden first.
Have a good evening all.
How can you lie there and think of England When you don't even know who's in the team
Hello all The Under Gardener has earned his roast chicken today - amelanchier planted, thoroughly watered and mulched, part of the veg patch dug over, raked down and sweet corn and squashes planted and both lawns mowed. I have (very carefully) planted up the new sunny bed and my neck is ok - fingers crossed.
The chicken (stuffed with a lemon and a handful of tarragon from the garden) is in the oven
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Poor Under Gardener - he was doing so well with digging the hole for the tree, then he hit a large lump of concrete - bless him, rather than change the chosen spot for the tree, he broke the concrete up
Verdun's always been able to look after himself - I'm sure he'd be horrified at the thought of people sending unpleasant PMs sort of 'on his behalf'

Having a break from the h.....k
. Having just passed the 50 years of it, length of marriage and vast expense seem to be in inverse proportion.
There's no room in life for petty disagreements
. and being huffy
DD, you must be exhausted!!.
Hosta, pleased that being back at work hasn't been too arduous.
Fairy, I hope you have taken to the hills and aren't wielding that pickaxe again today It's too warm for heavy labour.
Dove, get sorted out ready for your holiday
Hello all - and welcome back Obelixx! A Chelsea photos thread exists, please post yours when you have time - we'd love to drool.
Agree with previous comments, Punkdoc. Don't take any notice of stirrers.
Fairy, have you tried steam inhalation for your cold symptoms? It's time they went... early nights help too I think.
Not too hot here to weed... better get on with it...
Evening all - is it technically evening yet?

There is no victory over the rambling rector. You can only hope to come to some sort of armistice
Evening all.
Just watched the rugby, come on England.

Glad the neck's ok Dove, and you and doc have both had a productive day.
Hope the weather stays favourable for your jaunt to Hosta's - I'd send you ours but we're hanging on to it in case this is all the good stuff we get!
I'm not getting any offers to make dinner here unfortunately...
I was slightly concerned when LP said she was having a fight with a rector...and on a Sunday too...
