Today I shall be digging out the stump of a buddleia. I may be some time.....
Dove - do you have a sheltered, shady spot where you can sink the pot into the soil up to it's rim? If you then give pot and soil a thorough soaking it should be ok. The pot can draw moisture from the soil if it needs it but is also somewhat insulated so reduced water loss anyway.
I do this all the time with small pots in the nursery bed where they can be left for 2 - 3 weeks without additional watering unless it's baking hot
Otherwise, plant it, water it, mulch it....

Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
Steve, those of us who've been with JLP for a while still get "time and a half" on Sunday. There are still some who've been there for donkey's years who get "double time".
New Partners don't get it, hence they want to move those who do qualify out and replace them with new folk.
Dove - you could have a look in the GC for a little gizmo/watering spike that attaches to an old lemonade bottle, and releases water gradually over a week or 2 - and you could use that either in the pot or in the ground. I got some last year as I was worried about leaving my new crabapples for 2 weeks in July. Not expensive.
sitting in bed with the windows open listening to the birds ........bliss
Great news that you are going back to work Hosta .....well the work bit isn't great news, but as a milestone in recovery it is bl&&dy marvellous
Today's task is to weed my sweetpea bed and get the babies planted out, plus tidy up some other bits and pieces. Feels like we are hurtling headlong into summer now .....although perhaps someone ought to tell that weatherman
I'll be spending most of the day in an office " catching up on training" on a rubbish computer. Hey ho, I'll be getting paid ( time and a half ) for it.
Lovely and sunny here so when I've got the washing hung up, I'll plant out my runner beans. A week earlier than usual but I've got fleece at the ready...
Best wishes to your Amelanchier, Dove. I'm sure it'll be fine in the ground with a good watering and a mulch, and you can enjoy your holiday without worrying about it!
Hosta, hope work isn't too much of a shock...
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
Morning all, afternoon Pat skimmed through all I have missed but please forgive first coffee brain recall issues!
Kitty, sorry you had a day that left you feeling down, glad everyone here helped cheer you they are great for that!
Mynx, I used to suffer from panic attacks often, very over whelming, don't know how I got over it but glad I did, gardening is very therapeutic though good you have a supportive OH
Dove, a well earned holiday just around the corner!
Hosta, congratulations on the return to work! Hope the hypnosis is effective
BusyL, sorry missed your storm damage until just now glad your all alright and its fixing is in hand
Great Chickens Clari
Glad you were able to post a pic Yvie, it is a bit long winded but better than nothing
Thanks all for the lovey comments on my gardens progress, its really pleasing to watch it mature from last year
OK...plant ID time please any grass experts please step forward so another drive in the countryside for work, small village called Walderingfield, beautiful place that happened to have a little plant stand in someone's driveway....at a pound a plant it would have been rude not to support local business....
If anyone has ID's for these and how big they grow I would be very grateful! Thank you
