Blue sky and sun BUT grass in sunken garden still too wet for first cut. . now 3" high and rain forecast for tomorrow. Frustration!

OH cut our grass a couple of weeks ago - far too early and far too short and we were still having frosts but I've fixed it now.  Chappy has collected it for annual service and blade sharpening and won't bring it back till after we get home on the 9th.  The grass is thus safe to grow a bit and strengthen its roots ready for the onslaught of spring scarification and weed and feed - after the worst frosts are over!

Interesting here in the Vendée - huge camellias in flower and luscious magnolias and a wisteria in bud already.   My garden is fertile but colder and alkaline so no ericaceous plants at all and my wisteria has only once flowered before the second week of May.

Being very good and not having croissants for breakfast but definitely lots of coffee.

Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.

Hello all. We arrived in Norfolk yesterday, cottage is fine, neighbour has had her baby.

Found our nearest big supermarket today, almost next door to a garden centre image. 10 minute drive down a country lane. So once we'd bought supplies we went to the GC and I bought plants for the front flower bed, which has nothing in it. The builder covered it in weed suppressant fabric and shingle. I've bought compost to improve it before I plant. Had a nice coffee in the café. French GCs don't have cafés and they shut for 2 hours for lunch. Then we went to the Bressingham GC and bought more plants.image

It's been a lovely day, warm and sunny. Felt warmer than France.

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

Hello folks image  Welcome back to Norfolk BL image

It has been a lovely sunny day hasn't it - but the wind was getting up at S'wold - it's always at least one vest colder there than further inland.

Lovely and sunny here too so I took advantage of the weather and used my 2 hours respite time in the garden.

    BL,enjoy all your GC outings.

Thank you RB. It went as you say, as well as they can. The crematorium was packed. She was a lovely lady and a good friend. Thanks again x

It's been very quiet on here today.

30 degrees and gale force winds - most unpleasant outside today.  Photo from our road of a "controlled burn" at the Namadgi National Park, in the ACT south of Canberra.  I'm waiting for tonight's news for the usual scathing comments about controlled burns being carried out when high temps and wind has been predicted. image

  • Good morning, misty start here.

Your cottage holiday sounds adorable Lizzie.

Sorry about your weather Pat, seems odd that you are going into autumn as we are enjoying spring.

Packing and checking all my lists today - 1 more sleep, yay. image
