After a warm and sunny week, the rain arrived in spectacular fashion today. Although my garden needs a good downpour - I wasn't massively impressed as we drove to an outdoor theatre and picnic event with the wipers on full pelt! My neiece's rendition of "rain, rain - go away" did appear to work however. A classic British day out with frantic weather-app checking, a welly dilemma and threat of car-picnic!

Another day of comfortable temperatures and gentle rain - Hooray! Sorry, commiserations to all who have more extreme weather image but it isn't me image

Pleased your delphiniums survived Verdun, they are one plant I cannot grow, Those and red geraniums make me very sad thinking of that poor dormouse. Pleased you survived too GD2, Oh my AuntyRach, hope the performance was worth it and you survived. Reminded me of Regent's Park in the 60's before it got trendy - we always took a large umbrella, young enough then to enjoy the adventure, couldn't be asked now sadly.

  • Such a lovely sunny day here - but that wind sure is strong - boats cancelled yet again,  great weather  for gardening - nothing damaged in the wind here and the water butts are now full from rain last night.

Was lucky yesterday as 1. rain held off for picnic 2. theatre was done in a marquee in end!

Ridiculous rain today! Think a sunflower has 'gone' :-(

Will do a post-storm garden health check in the morning!

And still more gentle rain.......... It was feeling like a proper summer, bean slicer thingy at work, gherkins settling in salt, beetroot marinading, cucumber and lettuce ready for tea, then the geese flew over and suddenly it felt like autumn. I fear I may have to do some painting today, run out of reasons not to image

Hope the wind didn't do too much damage to anyones garden and pleased your day out was OK AuntyRach.

  • Enjoy your walk GWRS - we did our walking yesterday in wind and showers but enjoyable all the same. Today we have full sunshine and it is beautiful outside again and the water butts are full - hooray!
