weve got a cloudy drizzly day here and about 7c this morning, Heater on.
i witnessed an interesting event early today when I let HRH our for her morning walkies. Usually when the kangaroos are around the house, if a wallaby comes down as well, they sort of ignore each other and get on with eating. Well today, I saw a wallaby and a young kangaroo about 5 yards from each other on the path behind the house and they were sort of looking away from each other, so I thought this is the usual behaviour. Then the young kangaroo hopped over to the wallaby and they touched noses and then the kangaroo hopped up the hill away from the wallaby. I suspect it's not long been sent away from Mum and is still finding out who to be friendly with. Rather enjoyable to see this interchange. One disadvantage of them roaming around up there is that when I went up to pick strawberries later, I found wallaby droppings and squashed strawberries where the heavy footed little b....r had wandered through the bed.
we haven't seen the skinks since the snake's visit except for that one time that Hubby sawing of the babies that afternoon. Not sure if they are worried about snake smell or if the cooler weather is keeping them in their burrows.
Morning . Glad its finally cooled down for you Pat
Short week this week. Must find some twigs to decorate with Easter stuff this evening ......now why didn't I do that this weekend in the light, rather than scrabbling round tonight with a torch
Happy first day of Spring (or Autumn if you are antipodean).
Flumpy, the strawberries are now jam. He only trod on a few big fat ones. At least their droppings are easy to distinguish from kangaroo poo. I shouldn't be surprised. Roos eat grass, but the wallabies like flowers and softer grasses like clover. I've got flowers in that bed with the strawberries.
Glad you're having this week off. You must be over the moon.

Spell checker tricked me again. Hubby saw one of the babies (not sawing).

Hi Chocky.
My apologies Chickey. That'll teach me to check before hitting submit.
Pat it must be lovely to see nature so close up, have any of your strawberries survived?, not sure I could live so close to snakes tho : )
