Back from Aberdeen today, it involved lots of eating and drinking, looking forward to the green gym and a good work out on the plot...?
Hoping to finish preparing the bed's for next yr over next few days.
Enjoy your jolly, GWRS..
If you guys want any seeds... I'm saving... dwarf beans, a couple of french/runner bean varieties and Pumpkin - Chinese Lantern... in the veg department.
Also three chilli varieties...those are for cooking but the seeds should still be viable.
It'll be a .few weeks though before any are ready for sending.
Went to the plot for an hour or so. What a difference the clocks changing makes.
Planted out more garlic, spare onions planted in pots are already showing shoots. Early purple wright and thermidrome still to plant.
Prepped another bed for the spring and covered it. Ever so pleased I've been able to get more muck we still haven't had a delivery.
Went for a walk down the track, some of the plots have been worked. Had a chat to one plot holder, she doesn't think there's going to be a muck delivery and will e-mail the committee.
Zoomer welcome back are Chinese Lantern edible? glad you have been getting muck
Just went to allotment plot frost has got all my dahlias, the cucamelons and courgettes - such a bummer was going to cut the dahlias for a vase
Spent the morning helping at Woolston garden project the spinach has grown well and the PSB must be all the feed from the bags of compost got more plants and bulbs planted
Sure it gets dark sometimes after 4.30 terrible - still waking up early old time
Went to the plot on Wednesday evening, dug up a load of celeriac, and got rid of some courgette plants, ended up digging in the dark!!! Tidied up my cabbage patch, got some good heads on them now. Dalia's need taking out, but they look so lovely, woman on plot next door thought they were plastic .lol !!
Not got round to putting in onions or garlic yet as i've had so much to do in our garden at home.
still getting up old time, but its a good excuse to give the dogs a walk in daylight, the little one hates fireworks and people seem to think Guy Forks night starts in October and goes on till late November!!
I did'nt know Chinese lanterns were edible ether GG,
Zoomer can I try those seeds Chinese Lantern pumpkin please when ready
Ginagibbs Plastic flowers so good that your flowers must look amazing, digging in the dark hard to see then - I have a street light near my plot for extra help to see - I need to get digging for an area for broad beans - someone on my site sows broad beans between 7-14th November and they were good beginning of this year
seems to be wet today wanted to get more shed done, still may get there tomorrow
Hello all, our plot is still way out of hand, lady from council came and said we just needed to show some progress by next spring!Ha!very nice chap from plot next but one to us cut our hedges for us as we'd asked to borrow his hedge trimmer (probably, correctly, thought we'd not do a good job!) we went up and tried to clear up last weekend.. so, 'just start a fire' we were told..3 hours later and we hadn't managed to keep it going longer than 5 minutes!hmmm so, we now have a large pile of hedge trimmings,2 very full compost bins, 4 2x4 metre squares of black plastic covering 4 what could possibly be in the future beds and have resorted to weedkiller on 2 other large areas, we'll see if we manage any progress by next spring! the whole point was to get the children involved but we still haven't got it safe enough for a very energetic almost 3 year old yet!my poor husband gets nettled half to death every time he goes up!
No probs, Gg. Not sure how long to leave the seeds to dry, they've been on a window sill for about a week. I 've eaten one with no ill effects...?
Went to the plot yesterday and did lots of little jobs. Also turned over another bed ready to cover ...the end is in sight.
Keep going rosemummy, initially it is hard work but it does get easier. After weeding I covered beds with cardboard, muck then black plastic, then left the worms to do the rest. It's easier to dig out perennial weeds this time of year.

Gg. Yes they are edible, it's a dark green pumpkin with pale green stripes.
Didn't go to the plot today as it was raining. Went to a local GC. Bought some shallots.
