Emma, that's quite a transformation compared to the first photo! image Congratulations! And it looks like you inherited the most important things you'd have needed to put up, too. I saw a pallet planted up with small strawberry plants in our GC, so I don't see why the edible plants wouldn't work. It'll take quite a lot of watering, though (unless you rig up some sort of self-watering system), because there will be very little compost.

Gardengirl, did they tell you when you'll know re the plot? It sounds like you've done a huge amount of work, they should be impressed.

gosh gg hope we can do enough to keep ours!! neighbours said council really helpful and as long as they can see you are trying they're supportive, I'm rubbish at photos as I have to get hubby to transfer to computer and then I always forget how to put them on site.. (I did get a smartphone but it took so long to text and half the time screen wouldn't react to answering calls etc so after 3 months have given up and gone back to bog standard nokia) so upshot is I'd love to share pics but have to get help. Can't wait to actually get in now, my plan is to do 2 or 3 visits on my own to get rid of nettles and pick up all useful and useless debris,to make it safe for the children, then can start pulling up weed suppressant and see what's under it! there's a few nice stones I said they could paint and just need to tie swing seats to frame then at least they'll be occupied for short time

    Hello all

Aster2 no don't know how long I will have to wait, still trying to keep going, am worring as did not get as much done as wanted in the time scale

    GWRS what another holiday

Some of my sweet peas planted on one end of bean canes have gone white and yellow leaves feed when planted not sure if the wind is getting them other end sweet peas look fine

Emma your plot looks much better now than full of brambles - is that brown tarpaulin brought like that or from something else? Think Fruitcake is from Bristol me in Hampshire

Rosemummy - sounds good bit at a time and nice plan - does your site get compost of free bark chipping if you don't know ask or look around for areas that are near allotment edges our does - you can put carboard done and compost on top and plant into that helps stop small weeds coming up

Had my plot for a year now from begin of May Council Lady did a site inspection and I got a letter for overgrown/ uncultivated allotment plot even though I had done digging lots of weeds started growing back and it did need clearing again

Done some more digging today on the plot in a different area - put weed matting down yesterday where the shed will be going - Just need to keep digging for now so will have space for the sweetcorn, courgettes and cucumbers  - got given some cabbage plants and 1 spouting broccoli plant

what thing nibbles on broad bean leaves?  since I took them to the plot they have been nibbled on

Fruitcake how are your plots doing and how are the chickens?

GWRS could be pea and bean weevil if look like nibbled around edges of leaves, my beans have got it, and neighbours - I looked it up they live in the soil

My peas just starting to sho at allotment plot, I did not have winter peas at home the spring ones I sow in autumn disappeared off must be the right sort (winter ones) and they were not

Went to the allotment today brought canes from shop for garden square foot bed, GWRS told them about the slug pellets in jam jars they did not know thought a good idea, none of them thought of using the drink cups like take away cups to sow seeds in like I have with beans then I only have to plant them out

Done some more digging of new area bottom of plot for where potatoes will be going, put up wigwam canes for flower den and planted some more sweet peas ones I had left and gave them all a tonic

Here are the pics I took of Witts hill allotment hen went for plant sale - took some time to get them to go onto computer today and was outside till late last night doing hanging baskets till dark
