I'm not getting notifications either, pressing the icon possibly wasn't the answer...

Went to water again this evening. I've taken alot of seedlings out of the GH, sprouts,  broccoli, spinach, chad, pea's, sweet pea and more, it's to hot for them during the day.

Ever so pleased, 16 out of 26 dahlia tubers have leaves. Don't want to tempt fate and take cuttings so they'll be planted out as they grow :)

Hi all,Wow what great weather. Plot is looking great, cabbages are hearing up and ate the first of my over wintered leeks and had some rhubarb too. Not much sign of the carrots I sowed, recon they rotted during the wet spell we had a while ago.

Dalias coming up here too Zoomer, just planted loads of lupins that I sowed last year.

Planning on making a big kitchen garden at home now we have had a very large dead cedar tree removed. Garden is now in full sun, but I want to divide it with a hedge of some sort and do a pottager style garden beyond. (always seem to have a project on the horizon!!)

    Have a lovely weekend folksimage

    Hello all

Me not getting any notification and I only have the Unfollow icon at top of page just catching up and email me bit ticked at bottom of page

Been going to the allotment over the last few days doing lots of digging and clearing and spending a lot of time there even in the evening we were there till 8pm last night

Was doing lots of planting on Friday potatoes, broad beans, put up canes for beans - french and runners - sweet peas up the canes next the french beans and strawberries planted seeds sown beetroot, parsnips and peas up chicken wire dug out from plot and re-shaped

Also went to the tip and need to go again so much easier to get rid of rubbish

As today is the last day from my letter of uncultivated allotment/ overgrown so hoping I have done enough to keep it

Last week lots of sheds got broken into over the whole site dont think much taken but sheds broken getting in - lucky I have no shed yet

Hi all, so double OMG we've been offered a large plot at a great site.. it's obviously totally full of grass nettles.. brambles at sides but not toooo bad.. there's also a swing frame up, a slide frame (with the slide itself half buried a few  metres away) a greenhouse frame(unsure if intact apparently used to have a plastic cover) a rickety shed.. we met the next door but one plotholders and they couldn't have been nicer, there are 2 small sycamores and a small silver birch that they said they'd cut down for us, they advised pick up all pots, toys , frames etc, glyphosate the lot, leave for a couple of weeks then rake  the lot, and then rotivate/ dig.. wondering if we could do just beds and leave some grass pathways (am I being silly?) any advice welcome, am on the verge of signing up, am just a bit scared as hubby will be very minimally involved and I usually have a 2 year old helper and sometimes a 5 year old one, am I being too optimistic or could we do this? my plan is a mini orchard and lots of fruit bushes then whatever veg we think we'll eat..be honest please is this mamageable with maybe 4or5 hours a week?eeeekk!!

Sound good is it a flat site?  if you like the plot and there are good bits to it   - know it is up to you - can you go look at the plot again  - I would cover a bit and clear another bit which is what i am doing at min,  think it could be possible in 4 - 5 hours  - me not using weed killer

sounds good with all the hidden bits, have you a strimmer that keeps things better to manage and looks nicer

Went to the plot today nice and sunny but very windy got some more digging done, think I got bitten by a red ant on neck very sore

In the last week found 3 golf balls, also went to the allotment shop on Sunday and gots some more free spuds as the are givening them away

few of my seeds coming up in the gh - most of the cosmos was a little late in sowing them

no emails but a I will just keep checking in

it isn't too sloping gg, which is a big plus, the 2 year old is known as danger boy, he can't be left for a second so if I go up for 2 hours i'm likely to get 15 minutes work done..!!

hi again gg, the plotholders we met offered to strim the hedges and chop down the trees for us, I'd love to not use weedkiller, are you just using the black weed suppressant plastic? there does appear to be quite a bit of that up there, so you're just  doing patches at a time, that sounds more manageable, are you managing to keep weeds out of beds? daft question now, can I just go round and pull the nettles up? once they're gone the site would be pretty safe for the littlies
