Two rows of onions gone in today.  Also found a pack of ten strawberries on the shed floor - was just about to complain they they had forgotten to include that variety (Mara des bois) in the delivery! image

A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.

    Hi Keen,image

I've ordered quite a bit of stuff but most has been in the planning since last year so everything already has a space reserved.

Couple each of kniphofia, centaurea montana and phlox, also old faves such as geum, astrantia, aster and heleniumimage

    Wearside, England.
  • Sounds exciting - hope you're going to post pics when planted up. Victoria image
  • Ooh, what have you ordered Victoria?

Not much today for me - some couch grass fighting, plus dug out an evil thing or two, making space for a little visit to the nursery tomorrow image

Lots of greenhouse doings! Potted up cornflowers and cucumelons, cosmos and dahlias. Planted out lupins and verbascums.  Planted out a solitary runner bean to satisfy my irrational craving to get them going! Also put netting over new runner bean frame and made bird scarers out of strips of foil. Other half says it looks like something out of back to the future!

Hello all on Holiday in Tenby , started to warm up and sun shinning

Hope you are all keeping wellimage

  • Glad the weather's good for you GWRS, hope it continues image

I weeded the drive yesterday (I'm not sure that really counts as gardening) in the rain with my winter coat on. Not sure who was crazier, me or the bloke driving the ice cream van (he was probably just optimistic).

I nearly killed a tomato plant today, (all the others are in the greenhouse safe from my neglect) left it on a sunny windowsill and it dried up. I think I caught it just in the nick of time (limp rather than crispy) so it's had a bath and perked up a bit.

Nipped into B&Q this afternoon and picked up some reduced bedding plants, absolutely nothing wrong with them at all, £1.50 for 9 Dianthus (except being in those tea bag net things that I've read about on here - so my job for tomorrow is cutting them off before planting them up)

No gardening for the last two weeks, OH wanted a holiday, have visited the leugardens.org again but can't wait to get back.

OH thinks this is not normal but getting withdrawal symptoms and need to check on tomatoes peppers and chilli's. Not forgetting calla and canna lillies.

i did leave detailed instructions, but still worry.

  • Yep - been to the nursery, picked up a large flowering quince for £8 and a Jacques Cartier rose for £7, and planted them out.

Also dug out a shrub that died in the frost (that's down to my inexperience when I bought it and not looking to see if it was hardy!) and put a containered plant I've had for ages in its place. Will doubtless be asking you lot what the heck it is soon image

Found a slug trying to break into my house. He's not going to be doing that again.
