Gorgeous photos GD. The colour is stunning. Reminds me of a Regina Spektor song  # and the sea is just a wetter version of the sky   image

I think we often forget to look up when we're out. I love looking at the sky when out walking. It can be very dramatic and fast changing.

Have these ones on me Pat  image

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

Wonderful. They are inspiring, Fairy. It's no wonder you like to get up there whenever you can. image

  • Yes, those cloud formations are lovely - we tend to take them for granted, but each picture has a meaning as far as the weather changes are concerned. We must get out to take some sunsets, they are stunning over the sea. Glad you enjoyed the sea views, yesterday was an exceptionally calm day and the other islands and France seemed incredibly close - often we can't see further than Herm or Sark.

I can't compare with Doves lovely flowers, but I went for a wander this morning and managed to find a few.

A welcoming touch of Spring for you Pat image as we move into Autumn.

  • Autumn today - summer last Sunday. A picture of the resident heron in the local Victorian garden pond -  imagewhich used to be full of fish, but alas no more.

GD that's a good photo of the heron,is it half tame? I imagine the disappoint fish have something to do with the heron. We have a friend with a pond of goldfish and the cormorants have cleaned them out.image. He's not happy, but what can you do.

  • We watched the heron for 10 minutes whilst it watched it's next victim, catching the goldfish without hardly moving - just dipped it's beak in the water and swallowed the poor fish whole. Meanwhile a small crowd of people came along but the heron wasn't at all bothered with them or their movements. It's natures way, but this heron has got quite a reputation with the gardeners for his greedy antics in the pond! Apparently people regularly add disguarded "pet" fish to the pond so the heron should have a constant supply of food. Unless you put strings or mesh over a pond you will never keep hunting birds out, but this could cause problems with smaller birds who like to bathe in the water.

We were driving back from town in sleet today. Photo of it moving up the valley towards our place.
