    PMA Hosta.

look at all I do at my age, when your knee is sorted you will be up and ready. There will be no stopping you. X

Gardening on the wild, windy west side of Dartmoor.

  • Hi Pat, finally made it to Oz.  You have never mentioned the fabulous road verges out here.  Most of the plants I so carefully grow are just growing like weeds.  Agapanthus, Cannas,Evening primrose, Nerines,Morning Glory etc. It's absolutely fabulous. I'm really looking forward to Darwin.  But, we have still only seen dead kangaroos on the roadside

I hardly know what to say MuddyFork. Why are you visiting Darwn in the wet season? Are you crazy? Sweaty top lips, elbows etc.   Wait until the dry season.

i agree that all sorts of plants tend to take over the verges. Morning Glory is considered a bad weed. Where are you so far?image

  • Hi, we reached Port Fairy, Vic this evening.  OH wants to see Darwin so it's a trade off.  The rain is currently hammering on the camper van roof, I wanted hot and sunny not rain.

Port Fairy is lovely. A lovely coastline. I assume you're planning on driving up through the centre. A bit of a marathon, but I suppose the roads have improved since I lived in Darwin (until Dec 1974).

The rain in Darwin at this time of year will be far different from the Victorian rain.  Tropical downpours are very heavy. Best wishes for your travels.image

  • We are taking the easy option, plane to Alice Springs, train from there to Darwin and then plane to Cairns.  Himself didn't want to do Sydney so there was my bargining. Point.

That's a relief. It's an incredibly hot long drive up through the centre. I've done it a couple of times.

At least,  if you drive from Cairns to Brisbane you'll have some lovely coastal spots to see.

Afternoon all. Have been in the office this morning - but got everything done nice and quickly so came home & am now waiting for OH to make my lunch. image

Nice and sunny just now but very cold & it was white over earlier. OH is supposed to be leading a cycle ride tomorrow morning. Thinking skinny tires and frosty country roads don't mix very safely so I'm hoping it will be cancelled. (Also means I don't have to get out of bed to drive him & bike to the start image )

Have just had an email to say tonight's Garden Club has been cancelled because the speaker has 'flu. Was looking forward to a talk by someone from Mickfield Hostas & perhaps image the chance to buy some discounted plants. Hopefully they'll rebook for the autumn. They've also decided to organise a trip to The Place for Plants for a guided tour etc in April. Very nice plants there.... best get my name down this afternoon ....

    Call for lunch ... SYL

TB I hope your lunch was nice image

    Muddy have a great holiday.

Weather been mixed here, cold but sun at times. Weeds growing wonderfully, grass still sodden and don't want to walk on it to get to some borders.

Not much else to say imageimage
