Mental health support in this country is shocking - no one gets help when they need it, they get put on a waiting list and they wait and wait and wait ........they either get better themselves or they end up damaged for life.
Cognitive Behaviour Therapy techniques should be taught in every secondary school in the country. It would save a fortune in the long term ... but which political party ever gives a damn about the long term - they only think in 5 year packages
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Couldn't agree more. We've been fairly lucky with eldest fairy, but my mum had a different experience. Doctor was worse than useless and only when my sister got help through her GP was there any progress. There's something badly wrong with 21st century Britain when 25% of young men under 35 who die have committed suicide.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
My first OH was bi-polar, but lovely in between the ups and downs, sounds a bit like DD's friend. He was a really good father, there for the children, who now have lovely memories. But when we were in our early days together and he couldn't sleep for depression a doctor prescribed sleeping tablets which turned out to be addictive. We moved into a new flat, OH was really uptight, took the tablets and still couldn't sleep. I got quite worried as he was being so weird so I called our new local doctor. He said "Oh, he's been taking drugs, I don't treat people like that" and marched off. But that was in the 70s. I hope it's better now. Anyway, OH tried very hard, I tried to help, so did our children and he became a successful dentist and a very good pianist. But he smoked a lot and died aged 53.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Have you ever been in the supermarket, thought you were talking to hubby, and found he had moved away and you were talking to a complete stranger?
Well, the hotel cat seems to have hit on me for a soft touch. It followed us into breakfast this morning, a buffet arrangement. After I had got cereal, I was by the hot dishes, when I uttered to the man next to me, dressed in same colour t shirt and shorts as hubby, and said "pussy would like some bacon" . An american man I had never met before turned round and said"excuse me" in an indignant voice and took two steps away from me.
Ho hum.
Two young canadians on boat. Male was buff. Female was about a slender size 6 and made dumb blondes look good. We had a performance while she was taking off her frilly lacy shorts and poking her pert posterior in the direction of a boat full of men with their tongues hanging out.
Later on we were introduced. His name was Ken. I have no idea what hers was because I couldnt get Barbie out of my mind.

Mental health support is supposed to be getting more funding. I'll believe it when I see it...it's another postcode lottery...

BL - that's horrendous....
I'd like to think it's considerably better than that.
Sleeping pills are very addictive for some people. That must have been a very stressful time for you and your family.

Evening all.
Wet and cold here, so been mooching, nothing really achieved.
Think it might be time to open some wine.
I can vouch for the benefits of CBT. I was lucky to receive it early [ perk of the job ], unlike most people.
I continue to use the techniques today, and still find it incredibly helpful.
One of the things that most upset me, was how little my colleagues understood my illness. Their view was "mad", don't let him near patients.

Anyone of delicate sensibilities, look away now.
