    Thank you everyone, it's so comforting to read the things you've said. My eyes feel sore. I wish I had been with him at the end, but, at least, my friend was - and it was quite quick.

    Busy-Lizzie. very sorry to hear about your old horse. You can only be grateful that it was quick and painless at the end, I suppose.  I'm dreading the same thing with HRH who seems to be failing slowly.image

    DD, my thoughts are with you. Been there and done that (in 1971) and have had a really good life since. Just keep strong and look after your little one (as I already know you are doing). Sometimes the choices we make as young people dont still suit us when we get a bit older.image

    Sorry to hear you news Busy a big bushman bear hug for you. Pets big or small play such a huge part of our lives, i still miss my old cat terribly.

    I'm so sorry Busy.  They do leave a hole when they go but I hope soon you'll be able to think about the happy memories more than his parting.

    DD - chin up.  Stay strong and please, be firm but not aggressive about negotiations unless and until he starts to wriggle - and be prepared for him wriggling out of his financial responsibilities.

    Did you get the postcards?  I posted them last Thursday.

    So sorry to read your news Busy. Animals know when they are loved and I have no doubt whatsoever that your horse and friend had a fabulous life with you. Lots of love and hope that you get comfort from wonderful happy memories x
