How maddening, Joyce. I had that problem, but with deer, until OH fenced the main flower garden.

  • Busy-Lizzie,

I really like the look and size of your flower beds, and your house looks beautiful too.

Thank you Johnny. It's in SW France. I like your petunias. They do well in France too, it gets hot here in summer.

Thank you FG. It will all be gone when we have the first hard frost!

    Fairygirl,

Hellebore 'Blue Lady' flowering again in October? Out of season, isn't it?

"Spartina at the back, Hackenochloa in front of it, and Phormium in foreground". They all look nice, especially the Phormium in the foreground, but maybe too many similar foliage habit thrown together?

    BL,

I like your mixed borders, and also the colourful Michaelmas daisies, of course. The lawns don't look that bad.

Some recent photos of my small garden...

Foreground from left to right: Miscanthus sinensis 'Zebrinus', Calamintha nepeta (continuous flowering since beginning of July), Salvia chamaedryoides (continuous flowering since June), Skimmia Japonica 'Rubella' (with its red flower buds). Middle ground: Aster pilosus var. pringlei 'Monte Cassino' & Aster novi-belgii 'Blue Radiance'.

    image

Foreground: Geranium x oxonianum 'Orkney Cherry', incredible non-stop flowering since May, and showing no sign of fading! Widest specimen is more than 1 meter in diameter.

(ex Gaura) Oenothera lindheimeri 'Rosyjane'. Extremely flowerful, non-stop since June.

Good heavens Papi Jo, your flowers are amazing! I have Orkney Cherry, about 4 years old, stopped flowering in August and is only about 1 foot wide.

Yvie - you're fortunate to still have so much in bloom. I emptied the last of the bedding plants from pots this morning and replaced them with some spring plants.
