It been a terrible Summer / Autumn here in NW. I cant remember when we had a fine day or when we didnt have a wind / rain weather warning. we had hailstone / heavy rain / thunder / Lighting and winds Wednesday it knock a load of pebble dash off the wall. The garden been saturated for weeks on end now, I havent even planted one bulb yet I keep buy more as well what are getting sold off cheap.
The only good thing is we haven't had a frost yet, until this weekend -3 forecast. I have only just lifted the canna this week but the wind shredded the leaves along with most of the other plants.
It not been a bad year for autumn colour most of the leaves are down now though
We were on holiday in Suffolk in July. Weather was lovely, better than forecast. Have photos of me in summer dresses at Bressingham Gardens and Framlingham Castle. But it did pour at Flatford Mill! I was glad to be in England as it was 35° in Dordogne, too hot for me. We were in Norfolk in September and it was nice - except on my birthday! That day we went to the Broads and had lunch in a pub, wind and rain.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
I was just thinking as I walked to the shops this afternoon in the late autumn sunshine (!) that it's only a month till the solstice and then it'll be nearly spring. Won't it?
(I do seem to remember a sunny week or two on the south coast in July when I couldn't go sailing )

Ah yes - Georgi Markov. Thanks Hosta. 1978! I didn't realise it was that long ago. Getting old.

But we did have a frost and -4° twice in Dordogne in early October.
When I said it was " awful" maybe I'm factoring in knee issues making me grumpy
I don't think we ate dinner on the terrace since the fabulously lovely April where it once hit 31C . From then on it was pretty unexciting.
