The Met Office will no doubt say that Britain is an anomaly being subject to the jet stream and an Atlantic climate and therefore it's very difficult to predict the weather accurately 100% of the time, this leads me to ask why if this is so do we have so many weather presenters on the tele with hourly forecasts when it would be easier to look out of the window.

The Gulf Stream runs from the Gulf of Mexico to Newfoundland.

It then changes direction and heads east.

At this time it is now " North Atlantic Drift"

So Britain is warmed , not by the Gulf Stream , but by North Atlantic Drift.

  • Well guys, I have dug up my echinacea and (hardy) gerberas and put them in the cold greenhouse just to be on the safe side. Couldn't bear the fact that they may get chilly. So I'm ready
  • This forecast seems to come from a company called Exacta Weather who apparently started out in the UK and Ireland and have now expanded to the US.

Oh, and apparently we're doomed to have several years of Arctic winters according to them.

The most important preparation for winter in this household is to make sure I know where my Yaktrax are - with my dodgy knee if I slip I could be out of action for weeks - if I'm wearing Yaktrax I can walk fearlessly on icy pavements image

There was snow in the Belgian Ardennes this morning.  That's early.  I hope it's not a sign of things to come this winter.

I use these forecasters more accurate than most and certainly not the Daily Express!
