I remember one morning in 1963 I couldn't cross the road to catch the bus because everybody had swept the snow off the path, each women from her own front door to the gutter, I had to have a day off!
These days the whole place would come to a halt, no buses, no trains, we just went on as best we could, but when I tried to walk across this great mound of snow, I fell in it, it filled my boots and I just turned around and went home.
i hope it's a winter like that one, or even like the one when I was born.

I love the dark evenings, drawing the curtains at 4.30, kettle on, reminds me of when I was a child, walking home from school in the dark, mum would have a pot of tea made and crumpets or toast toasted over the coal fire.

Sounds as though you need to call Johnnie Irwin and get a break in the Carribean. He seems to sort out everyone's problems on my TV. You could always come and share some of my 30c days which are getting horribly closer. I hate the heat!
I agree that the clock changing is nothing more than an irritation. Doesn't solve anything.
Agree with Nut about the clocks. I rather like a cosy evening in front of the woodburner. Don't like snow and cold winds. Like the excitement of the first snowdrops poking through.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
I love January Christmas leftovers and pickles, snowdrops, aconites and hazel catkins dancing in the breeze, walks in the crunchy snow with our breath steaming up our faces then home to a lovely hot meal ............ so many lovely things about January ... especially MY BIRTHDAY!!!
