Eclipses vary in darkness. Sometimes the moon almost disappears, sometimes it is fairly bright with plenty of colour, but this one was seemed in between to me.
Wow Alan. Shame Pansy. I think we must be a bit misty here beecause it looks nothing like that picture. Time to give up before it's time to get up methinks.
Oh dear punkdoc, sorry to hear it. I'm glad we didn't have another row with our neighbours this time. We were a little bit noisy earlier (loud whispering) because we got so excited, and they are shepherds, so sleep is precious, but they seem not to have woken.
We had a fantastic view with no nearby towns or major roads. I did get a bit distracted earlier when the moon was brightest. I started re-potting a few plants out there while waiting. Too dark once it started happening though.
Well, I woke around 4.15ish and had a look out of the window - there was a shadow across part of the moon - glad I saw it but glad I got back to sleep again.
Brilliant photo Alan I understand more now than I did Bob, thanks
Oh dear Pdoc ((hugs))
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Just woke up after a disturbed night. Rather disappointed with my efforts......when the moon eventually coloured-up (muddy, rather than 'blood' I thought ) despite my best efforts I wasn't able to get a worthwhile shot.
No fairy. I wrapped the big headed dahlias that are just starting to flower in white fleece. It won't save them from a hard frost, but should stop the buds getting damaged. We had a slight frost the night before.

Well there is some advantage to not being able to sleep, after major row with neighbours.
Well worth seeing.

Fab pic Alan
doc
Hope you got some sleep afterwards.
Bob - didn't understand a word - but I'm looking forward to your pix!
'fleecing the dahlias' fidget - was that a euphemism?
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

Seeing the moon so close on such a clear evening was lovely. My camera could not cope so this is what I got at 10pm before I went to bed.
