Personally winter can be cold , crisp with frosty days but sunny which I like , it is the damp wet time I don't like but that is not always in the winter
we have an open fire which is always nice , we can burn anything and I do , coal is expensive but always gets plenty of free wood
I must join in briefly and tell you that we find a Norwegian met forcast site better than the Australian Met Bureau. It's often more accurate for my area. How's that for a joke.
Pat - the NY (norwegian forecast) is used by lots of hillwalkers here for weather! Most use two or three and take the law of averages. This weekend it's the one saying sunny for today while the others have cloud and rain and lousy visibility, so needless to say - I'm going walking tomorrow!
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

I would cancel November. It's dark and cold and damp and too long to wait til spring.
Maybe most of December as well and start again with the New Year's Day flower count. Spring starts then
In the sticks near Peterborough
The only predictions I would make are that the nights will be longer than in the summer and the days shorter.
This summer has been poor so I wouldn't even predict that there will be more rain!
One thing you'll never , ever hear me say " it's too hot"
I agree about hot dry and hot humid. We were in Goa once in April and it was hideously humid.
On balance I'd rather have hot humid , than frost.
I really don't function well below 20C
Ken Ring from N.Z is pretty accurate if any of you ever googled him!

I'm glad it's not only is that think they are good, Fairy
I feel that the only predicable thing about the weather is it's unpredictable
how many time have you gone to the next village/ town leaving the sun to find rain ! Or visa versa and snow or no snow !
Winter bring it on
Not sure where I got NY from - it's YR. Senior moment
GWRS - you're right - weather can be very 'local' in Britain. Not sure why we haven't all grasped that by now!
