The one I chopped down yesterday did, they even impaled themselves into OH work boots, and I have spent most of today with a needle picking then out, although I dont think they are actually in there, just made holes in me.
Gardening on the wild, windy west side of Dartmoor.
What I meant to say was they don't ALL have sharp thorns! A Shropshire Lad has hardly any. I know there are others, can't remember, can't go and look everything is too wet, been having a HUGE thunder storm.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
I grow a number of thornless roses including Mortimer Sackler. I only buy varieties that repeat flower with a strong perfume and choose those with high disease resistance. Have far more trouble with other plants in the garden. I'm also not a fan of mono planting and choose roses that work well in mixed borders.
It's the current fad for swathes of boring ornamental grasses that amazes me.
Thank you Supernoodle and Hostafan. Saw some more out this evening. Lady Emma Hamilton looks lovely with the evening sun (between the thunderstorms and heavy rain!) shining through her.

Zepherin droughin [if I have spelt it correctly] has perfume and no thorns. Lovely deep shade of pink. Notice someone said Mortimer Sackler is thornless and I would be interested to know of any others

Busy Lizzie,
Beautiful, all of them.

I have the odd one Verdun but only plant them to frame my beautiful roses
