Hi Verdun, I'm new to the forum, so don't know if you've been asked this before, but, what about Rosa Mundi? All the old roses...are you agin them too? I agree if they're untended they can look a mess, but a bit of deadheading and they're lovely - the scent makes up for all the thorns
The scent of this one is to die for and it just keeps on flowering - I love it. Mine all seem to do well as long as they get lots of manure on them, just a shame the dog wants it on him too.

I adore my roses. However, I buy only the best and the most scented. My two rose bushes have given me the most joy over summer with their amazing scent and pretty flowers. Now they are 'over' it doesn't matter as they are at the back of the border and nobody will see them as they are surrounded by evergreens etc.
The smell of the Gertrude Jekyll rose was just intoxicating.
There are some rose plantings I hate though - permanently unpruned residents of a sparse border in front of somebodys house that have become leggy and unshapely, those with no scent, and those planting with nothing to hide them when they are done.
There are several eyesore ones round here I would gladly chop down in the night.
DD and BL gorgeous roses. I'm quite into peach this year. Have planted two called simply peach under front room window, can't wait for next year when hopefully they have filled out

Verdun, I have managed to cross a S. gigantica with a Rosa glauca, do you think it will be worth growing?
