Opera - Mozart and Janacek especially; Wagner too. Music especially chamber. Like the modern stuff particularly - we'll try most things: Nixon in China; Lulu; Wozzeck. Akhnaten next year, and Lady MacBeth of Mtsensk this autumn.

When I'm not gardening I love searching my local second hand shop for antiques. And I love classical music, including opera. I also love baking, and anything to do with history. If only I had more time for all those things...

Nanny Beach no you don't sound old I've always liked knitting and sewing but sometimes I can't sit for long because of sciatica.

Logan, oooh, I am old, just getting into these hobbies as I get older, well, more time, kids left home and all that. Can give you some great excercises for the sciatica - now I obviously dont know how old YOU are, or your limitations or general health, dont want to get sued!  So you may want to check with GP, practice nurse, what ever. But (assuming you can) lay on the floor on your back, lift knees into chest, as far as you can, arms round your knees in a "hug", then rock, side to side and back and forth.loosens things up and takes pressure off the sciatic nerve. But yes sitting is bad for us humans, we stiffen up.

I used to do freehand embroidery. I used to read a lot. I used to write Children's stories. Now I am in so much pain after gardening it takes me all my time just to sit in a chair. So my hobbies have stopped.
