It's still growing well but the conventional wisdom is that you don't harvest it after the end of June to let it build up its strength for next year. I started a new bed last winter (6 plants growing strongly, getting the run-off from the compost heap) so am still pulling from the old one before it gets dug up in the autumn
Millions of cucumbers (only just an exaggeration!) and loads still growing, redcurrants now all ripe so will be making raspberry and redcurrant pies, but nothing else. Loads of green tomatoes in greenhouse, aubergine flowers but no fruit, chillies and peppers look as though they have just been planted. Less than a foot tall and a just a couple of flowers!
Where can I get seeds for venison grillsteaks? Everything else in last nights tea was from the garden.... Peas, baby carrots, new potatoes and parsley.
Some of my strawberries are looking close to ripe - the ones the birds can probably get through the chicken wire, fingers crossed I get there first!
Will be picking the last of the strawbs this weekend, but the summer raspberries are now producing as are the blueberries, red gooseberries and worcesterberries. Also blackberries, cucumbers, spuds, tomatoes, calebrese, courgettes and turnips. Climbing french beans have lots of tiny beans on too. Japanese plums starting to ripen as are the peaches and the apple trees are absolutely loaded this year. Only real disappointment are the cherries as woodpigeons scoffed them all before I could net them! Oh and the Goji berries - 3rd year now and not even a single flower!
A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.
My first year so glad to say I've managed to produce something!
Not quite eating yet but my tomato plants all have green toms of a decent size, vaguely beginning to orange but a few weeks yet I think.
I thought my cucamelon was a lost cause but it's suddenly started to flower a lot and a few fruits are developing, albeit it's only about 2ft tall and not sprawling all over as some reviews mentioned.
Crystal lemon cucumber was ravaged by slugs overnight seemingly, so they've had a set back, but are flowering quite a bit now so hoping some will develop.
Pepper plants still are very small, not sure if I'll get anything, the ones on the windowsil are doing better than in the greenhouse for some reason, they're about 1ft tall with a couple of flowers, greenhouse aren't even at that stage
Had my usual vegetarian supper tonight, new potatoes straight from the garden to the pot, boiled, then doused in grated cheese and chopped chives and butter, served withbroad beans from the garden and a Sunlem tomato from my conservatory. Dessert was two Worcester Pearmain apples picked off the tree and eaten as i strolled round the garden.. First this year and very sweet and juicy. Have frozen lots of beans and strawberries as i had gluts. Have harvested the red banana shallots, bkackcurrants and have green salads all the year round either from the garden or the conservatory. Huge crop of plums, apples and pears this year.
Harvested the garlic (bit disappointing) they were smaller than iI expected but quite pungent. Brought in some courgettes from the poly tunnel and made courgette carbonara with some thyme leaves from the garden. Delicious!

You need to buy a male and a female deer, Boater. I wouldn't advise it though - they will eat your garden!
