Sounds good Fruitcake Hoped to have first harvest off gooseberry bushes but something got there before me two only !! not nearly enough for a crumble?? maybe next year I'll put them inside the raised bed high wire compound
Broad beans and potatoes are wonderful but not quite the same with custard
Please forgive my one and only time to be able to show off. From cold greenhouse, blueberries by the lb. garlic, French beans courgettes, potatoes, tomatoes (just) and outside strawberries, black currants, gooseberries and the first 6 cherries as well as lettuce, spinach mange tout broad beans lambs lettuce and beetroot. We are loving it , summer is here.
Dinner included homegrown carrots, parsnip, spring onions, chilli, redcurrants and pak choi. Of all the harvests, the pak choi is perhaps the big surprise, as it is so easy to grow, and so tasty. This year raspberries are not so good. Strawberries almost done. Blackcurrants starting.
Had my first raspberries about two weeks ago, since then lettuces growing so fast the slugs are eating them faster than I can, picked 1lb peas yesterday would have been a lot more if it hadn't been one for me then one for the trug, also a new one for me is Kohl Rabi its lush, the Web is full of recipe ideas, trouble is its not getting much further than picked, peeled, chopped then eaten - I just can't help myself,

Over 1.4kg of raspberries so far! Lots of chard and welsh onions too. I love these months.

Happily no, we have an old age bungalow with two greenhouses bigger than the living accommodation -you can see where the priorities are.
Retirement is wonderful when you have a garden. Don't dare say shall we have some chickens now
