I haven't seen it yet as had a few Soil 2015, Light 2015 and other things on this weekend. Looking forward to GW as when I watched the start of Beechgrove Garden I cringed for the presenters. I love the ethnobotany of the Western Cape and seeing plants in their natural habitat. I need some sleep first.
I am puzzled about people not liking the SA section.
More plant species come from SA, than any other country in the world.
Many of us grow some of these plants at home, and the best way of finding out the best way to grow a plant in your garden, is to see it growing in the wild.
How can you lie there and think of England When you don't even know who's in the team
Only been watching for around 1 year, i love all the content of the program. With such a massive variety of plants and veg in existence it would be impossible to cover everything and keep everyone happy. I dont mind the features about growers and plants abroad, its great to see people with such passion!!
My ONLY complaint is that its over too soon, needs to be one hour long!!!
Much prefer Beechgrove, always have done. There is a charm to the programme that only Monty can match on GW. Speaking of Monty, going by his Twitter feed, he does a lot of different things for a lot of different people, so its maybe no surprise that his part of GW is dwindling?
I think it proves that with such a huge subject, there is something for everyone but sometimes GW leans in the wrong direction for some of the audience and the right direction for others.
GW has become something of a national institution for us gardeners. However the current programme is failing us for much of the time. I am finding it less and less relevant to me and my garden and I now watch only those few segments that are of interest and value to me. Gone are the days when I dropped everything and settled down with a cuppa and GH, GS or AT. The acid test for me is " how relevant is this item to the average garden and its keeper?". Items about exotics can be covered on other programmes. GW has the opportunity to educate and inspire the next generation to continue the great British tradition of gardening, but I fear this just not happening.
The importance of this is reflected in the large number of posts over little more than a day. I hope the programme makers take note.
Gardeners world has lost it's way,I'm interested in what's relevant in today's garden not where plants have come from although a jolly to South Africa would be very nice.Monty is great always liked him,and Carol so passionate,Joe Swift not keen always seems so condescending, and as for not liking hanging baskets well.Go back to what you do best Gardeners World

I have a South African neighbour: he would often talk about the plants there, so seeing monty wading through the forests there are dead interesting

Thats about as close as the creepy google satellites can get.
