Last night's Gardeners World

TootlesTootles Posts: 1,469

Hmmmm, just watching last night's episode. Cocodrama hanging baskets? Long section on South Africa? Not loving the content. Beechgrove is so much more relevant for me. It's how I imagine Gardeners World used to be when I hear people happily reminiscing about Percy Thrower and Geoff Hamilton. I do enjoy watching Monty, and hope that last night was just a blip for me. Do others like the more modern take? I think I might just be too old fashioned!

I didnt get the hanging thingies either. They look like more watering than the average hanging basket.

They were a bit odd...can't see the point of them.

Just watching it myself Now.   Not a fan of the cocodama.  I'm sticking to conventional baskets.  My favourite bits of GW are those with Monty.  In fact, I could do with all Monty and none of the features.

I didn't mind the kokedama, but I don't like the South Africa bits every week - I want to see local garden inspiration.

i'm the same, only realy interested in the monty bit, since people on here have recommended beechgrove i record it every week and watch it when i have time, much more interesting and i like that that test and experiment with different things too, love it.

I find some of the extra bits a bit dull sometimes. I love the 'things to do this weekend' section and generally Monty pottering around the garden. Mmm, I have just set up Beechgrove on record and will see what that's like.

Completely agree, if the show was longer then I wouldn't resent long wistful shots of a wet Nigel or Monty trotting off into the distance. Joe swift sends me off into a slumber too.  In 30 mins of beechgrove they cover around a months worth of gw!

I love all the gardening programmes but agree that Beechgrove is the best and the content more relevant to the average suburban gardener. I do love Monty though

I'm glad Monty gave advice on growing streptocarpus as they are so pretty and not often covered in programmes.
