I also liked the Islamic Garden and would be interested in knowing what the Arabic said ?

The Islamic garden is very elegant but too stark and white for an English or northern European climate - blinding when sunny and would soon start going green with mold in all the damp parts of the year.   Fine in a sunny climate where you need cooling stillness and calm but not for our climate where you want colour and life and buzz from plants and insects for the relatively short part of the year where you can live and play outside.

I nearly always love the Japanese gardens with their rich planting, teh water features and the moss but can't imagine living with one of the Cheslea exhibits - two dogs, a husband, friends to play and I'm not a control freak and you have to be to keep a Japanese garden up to scratch.   One day maybe I could have a wee Japanese corner.........

Oblelix , I do agree with your comments

  • Is the coverage getting a bit flibbertigibbety or is my attention span too long?

The Japanese garden is stunning, but again, it's a stage set, not a garden.

I still think we're having too much chatter and not enough of the gardens.

Did we really have to watch someone plant up a tub full of veg? at Chelsea? really?

Still watching and hoping to see more gardens / exhibits in Pavillion.

Joe Swift seems to have the best tailor.

James Wong has some odd collar / jacket combos and what the heck was MD wearing  last night? The trousers were about 6" too long. He was actually standing on the hems of his trousers.

I thought it was great to see Sue Beesley on yesterday's programmes image. She was a winner of the BBC Gardener of the Year Award. And members of the old BBC boards may remember her as Trillium image.

She got a silver medal for her first ever exhibit in the Great Pavilion. And she only had about 3 weeks! to prepare for it. She said she had applied for a place, but hadn't expected to get one this year.

But at the end of April she got a call from the RHS, telling her that someone had pulled out, and would she lke to take their place. That gave her about 3 weeks to prepare, and she was at the Malvern Show as well at that time.

She still managed to get a silver medal at Chelsea! Brilliant!

Here she is on Twitter image

That's great about Sue Beesley image

I see she has Geum 'Flames of Passion' - I have that in my front border - it's gorgeous.
