help me choose a new hedge

bekkie hughesbekkie hughes Posts: 5,294
Im in the process of removing a very old, mostly dead conifer hedge between us and nextdoor. Im totally overwhelmed with the choice of what to replace it with! i definately want evergreen, possibly flowers or berries, it needs to be slowish growing as i dont want to be trimming it every five min, need to be able to keep it around 3 feet tall. Heeeeellllpppp! image

We've got a flowering hedge that partitions (spelling!!)  the veg patch part from the rest of the garden. The name escapes me at the mo beks...lol....but will have a mooch and find it image

Ive got both of those on the list, also got them elsewhere in the garden which is a bonus as it wont cost me anything! Been thinking about camellias, yew, or growing something like clematis through something else.....aggggh!

What would you choose and why? The new hedge will be a backdrop to my new peach and cream rose garden, the light comes from my neighbours side of the hedge which is why i want to keep it low image

Its called Hypericum Hidcote. Its really easy to maintain and keep to the height you require. We trim it each year. It has flowers for months during the summer.

Yes it is beks. It flowers right through summer til the end of September/begin Oct. We let it grow to about 4ft with a walk way in between. I've got a pic somewhere that I put on here last year.  I'll see if I can find it.

Its gorgeous SGL, im thinking it might be to bright for the colour scheme i want, i will have a look and see if it comes in either a lighter colour, it will be behind quite soft colours, a white one would be great! image
