My only worry is, looking at the sweet pea i am going to have to seperate them now in little pots or they are going to start clinging onto each other, seem to have a lot in one pot, not sure how many sweet pea you are meant to put in a pot?
Everyone sowing Zinnia. I was going to direct sow them into tubs as I read they hate having their roots disturbed. Is this true have you found or can I sow some in trays now? (never grown them before but now I have two packs thanks to GW and garden news mags!!)
Christine....3 sweet peas in a pot is good, although I sow only one in root trainers.
Hostafan.... Took your advise and planted the Ricinus on the 1st April, no sign yet.
Fishy..... my Zinnias in tiny individually in modules. Never knew ab6out root disturbance, did the same last year, potted on and they were fine.
GG... I always wait until the seedlings have at least 2 pairs of true leaves before I prick out. You may need to pot the calendula on again into something deeper.
Holyhocks looking good Lena, watch for rust, you could use an anti fungal spray when they are bigger, before the rust sets in.
Isnt it a lovely time, all the new life popping up, my fav season of the year!

Fishy65 I get the Garden News mag nice Zinnias from them, you can sow them direct but will have to wait a while yet, they sowed them in little trays in the mag same as what I will do

Lyn some were getting leggy so decided to prick them out quicker

Dont forget that if you have leggy seedlings, wait for the true leaves then plunge them in the new compost up their shoulders, thats just below the first leaves. Curl them round the pot if necessary.

Lynn-is that with all seedlings?
My giant sunflowers have died, not sure why. Do I harden my sweet peas off?
