About one inch from the bottom leaves Gemma, then the same each time you pot on until they are ready to go out on in big pots, they make roots all the way up the stems making a nice strong plant. Dont be tempted to pot on too quick, only when their roots fill the pot they are already in.
Gardening on the wild, windy west side of Dartmoor.
This is my new hydroponic system. Have had to use a fairly dark room that I can shut off from my 2 year old so invested in some lights. Hopefully now they are bigger they might stand a chance on the conservatory windowsill.
This is the first time I have grown tomatoes from seed - they are F1 Tumbler . Do they look OK so far? worried they are a little leggy. Been using jam jar labels to label my Larkspur, Clary and Cornflowers seedlings - now 3 days old
Ahhhhhh 'The shoulders' - I read that's what I should do but when I came to repot them I left a couple of centimetres of soil at the bottom of the pot and then couldn't get them in any lower without bending the stems
Thanks again Lyn, my pots are around the size of a polystyrene cup but a third of the depth! Will go shopping for some nice deep pots and save some polystyrene cups for next year.

Thanks Lyn, I think when I first potted on I could have used deeper pots. Next time I move them I'll drop them down.

Gemma, deepest pots you have is best. My first pot on will be in polystyrene cups.
My OH is really not impressed with the 'new look' of our living room but the greenhouse is full. I told him it was just until they germinated.

When I come to repot again I'll use deeper pots
DD, I'm impressed with the living room style
In the sticks near Peterborough
Thanks Nut, takes a green fingered gardener to appreciate such style.

Gemma , next time they will probably go into 4 inch flower pots, they will be deep enough. Wait until they are well rooted in those pots first.
Lovely room DD, thats what living rooms are for, all things living!
