  • Steve...these bones you had to remove were most definitely cooked ones. Raw bones are ok. If I hear of people feeding their dogs the carcass of a cooked chicken, I could also slap them silly. But raw bones are ok for them. Especially the wings as they consist mainly of the soft tissue. One re-occurring problem my little dog has is that every now and then she gobbles up one of my long hairs that had fallen off my head and when that happens she gets worried about her poopsy following her on an invisible stringimage

  • Forgive me, some of them were raw.

I'm not saying that I haven't removed cooked bones too.

  • Willowkitten - Garlic 'to annoy the fleas'!   Love it! image  And it does work.   We give our two dogs (dachshund and Border Collie) garlic regularly, and I can't remember when last I saw a flea, thank heavens.  It's been over 10 years now.   My husband also feeds garlic to his chickens, and they do not have mites or stickfast fleas - EVER!

I'm wondering if I should start taking it so the midges and everything else which bites will leave me alone.

  • My goodness, who do I have to scr*w around here to prove to people that the garlic and flea thing is a MYTH!!!

  • Sorry, I hear this stuff every day.

'He doesn't have fleas at all, I never needed to treat him. What do you mean his skin problems are caused by fleas? I can't see any? That stuff on his coat isn't flea dirt. I use garlic/chips/armadillos to prevent them...'

    Drives me mad.

Not me, I believe you. But then garlic upsets my tummy!

  • I didn't say which end you should use it for! image

  • Then you'd also say that rubbing a solution of 50:50 water and apple cidre vinegar with mother doesn't work against Malazzesia, Steve?image. When my dog had that and it's a pretty ugly fungal disease I had the choice between putting her on a course of steroids or trying that good old recipe out first. And that choice was given to me by her vet and it worked a treatimage
