We're having pancakes tonight but no apples left to go with them. Most of them this year were small, rotting on the tree or full of bug holes. Not worth picking through to find the good bits
ps2. I've only ever grown heuchera in the ground . I especially love Obsidian, and mine have all ended food for the little bleeders. I've just given up on them now.
Planted 30 Allium moly bulbs over the daffs I planted on Sunday, then planted some pansies I've been growing on over that. Then planted some Primula 'Blue Jeans' in the spaces between the lavenders. Then D. and I went up to the outside of the park and 'stole' fallen leaves and have three big bags ready to shrink down to leafmould. After that, did 20 mins deadheading lavenders and salvias. Don't want to cut them right down quite yet, as there are still flowers, and a bee was enjoying a lavender today. Hope they're going to last another couple of weeks, then I can take them out and plant the tulips.
Planted the last of my bulbs for the garden (still have some for pots but need compost) and cut back the dead and dying lilies and dahlias, not lifting them this year, they are where I want them and I am taking a chance.
Also did a bit of weeding and spread some manure. Unfortunately there is a wasps nest right next to it so I have been dodging them all afternoon - and they weren't happy with me disturbing them.
Also collected another sack of walnuts and still loads to get yet.

Got son to buy some garlic for planting. that is enough for one day!
Daryl 2 I recommend apple pancakes
Hoping our compost is big enough that the apples won't cause too much trouble.
We are trying to eat and store as many as possible, but it has been a 'good' year. Anything much smaller than a tennis ball goes in the compost.
Got up too late for any gardening today

Good day gardening , cut lawns really needed doing

working indoors tommrow as weather is supposed to be rainy
anybody known whether heathers need trimming , got two in pots ?
have been given apples and pears which I have been using in fruit salads
Hi GWRS,
Yes you are meant to trim heathers after flowering - a bit like lavender I think, so not into old wood, just to tidy them up.
Enjoy your indoor jobs. I haven't looked at forecast here yet, but hoping for a dry morning.
moved all my agapanthus in pots into the polytunnel .
carried on the war against cluster flies and watered everything.
