Been serving eviction notices on my weeds. Some ground elder dug up and more of the green alkanet. OH brought home a strimmer and lawn mower and seedlings watered. My raddishes are sprouting
Bit worried about the fruit I bought. Blue berry. Blackberry tayberry and raspberry look dead. Just sticks
Some were healthier when planted. What have I don't wrong?
Thanks Verdun will wait a short while then see. No weedkiller used in garden since November, can't say what was used before but gardening wasn't the previous owners thing so doubt it too.
One tayberry has sprouted just not its friend. The Raspberry's from my family home have too. I'll wait a while but worried.
Squonk, I'm in West Yorks not the Midlands, but I reckon you've got the rest of the month at least for sowing your parsnips. They won't come to harm if you have to leave it a week or two.
Back home after 4 days in my son's garden in a village outside York; it's a walled garden about 30ft square, sheltered in some places, turbulently windy in others. Once professionally designed and constructed, it was left to nature by the previous owners, and now has large populations of creeping thistle and rosebay willowherb, as well as stumps of dead shrubs. But surprising things are appearing; a clematis shooting from underground; a ceanothus layer still alive though its "parent" is long dead; seedlings of interesting hellebores etc. Plenty of crumbling stonework and a decaying conservatory too though. Son and DIL are keen but overwhelmed, so I went to help for a bit. Further visits will be welcomed, I feel...
Today my order from J.Parker's arrived so this afternoon's job is potting up little plants. Happy days!
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
Been up to Allotment this afternoon , planted more potatoes and dug another bed over , only 7 more beds to go , currently having a beer with feet up recovering
At last I've had the opportunity to get outside and do some proper gardening
Seeds sown - golden beetroot, red beetroot, Chantenay carrots and radishes - wire netting placed over the raised bed to keep the neighbour's cats off.
Some hoeing done, some weeding done, some plants in pots moved around - a lot of sitting looking at things and watching birds - a lovely day - more please
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.

Mostly just pricked out seedlings and watered pots
after a 10 shift at work, the best I managed was to water the tunnels when I got home.
