cleared more the bed which will be my Jungle Border one day, but not , I''m afraid this year.

Planted 7 new clematis and watered the polytunnels. Doesn't sound much but it's taken me all day.

Looking forward to a nice soak in the bath.

I've done some seeding of Tomatoes, beans, cucumber, peppers, cucamelons and courgettes. Hopefully some of it will grow. Half of them are sitting on one of my radiators waiting to germinate.

Had almost 2 hours in the garden this morning!! Planted out stocks sown last year, all outgrowing pots, sown nigella and night scented stock s in pots and a bed, planted first spring sown sweet peas in very large pot and weeded ( though probably have pulled up some self seeded nigella from last year oops ) sowed broccoli and courgettes but think I should have put courgette seeds in bigger pots, not just 4 cm modules.... I was on a roll and had my little helper on seed duty so we just got on, very pleased we got few bits done, I won't get much chance for amother week at least

I'm aching all over. Been in the veggie garden from 11am to 6.30pm with the odd drink break. Weeded and dug out the spinach beet that seeded itself so that OH could finish the rotavating. Dug and added a barrow load of home made compost and 2 sacks of bought compost where the runner beans will go.

Raked and put down weed supressing fabric, apart from where onions, broad beans and peas are as had already done that. The wind didn't help!

Then cleared half the jungle on the right, about 3m x 10m which hasn't been cultivated for a few years. There are metal posts and wires which supported raspberries years ago, so I dug along that bit and added 2 sacks of compost, will grow tomatoes there.

The whole veg garden is quite big, 25m x 10m with the GH and 3 cold frames in the middle.

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

Peered out of French windows at my tiny garden! My last garden,( after having a brainstorm, due to bad hip, and moving to a 2nd floor flat!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ) was a large country garden. New hip is wonderful!

Now I have a tiny south facing garden (nose still red from 2 hours reading on the patio yesterday). So what to do? Researching shade plants as the north facing bed gets no sun, tho it is a 6ft fence and quite bright really. Seems to retain moisture, so thinking, hostas, ferns, astilbe. Needing climbers.

Need to source dianthus Mrs Sinkins. I bought 1 tiny plant at Reighton nurseries for 60p and filled the garden with plants grown from pips, and filled the whole garden with scent..

I shall wait till the schools go back, then do a tour of the local garden centres.

  • I've kind of ran out of things to doimage

Spent yesterday moving things around (although there was no pressing need) and looking for interesting weeds. Everything is either hardened off or still in a seed tray apart from some petunias I keep moving in and out.

I might pot up the dahlia tubers one eve this week - probably should have done that alreadyimage
