Please stop recommending Clematis Ive had a look at Black Prince and really like the look of it, but I'm not sure I can fit it in.image

Have been busy today.  Found that all three of my new peonies have started to show, I'm so excited.  Attacked Scaly bugs and Jap Anem.  Planted new Dahlia 'Jescot Julie' moved an epimedium (it's been moved 3 times now and I'm sure it's back where it startedimage

When I look at all the seedlings I have I get a bit worried about where they are all going to go.

Of course you can fit another Clematis in Yvie...all you do is plant it in the dead of night, there's no guilt then and it takes up half the space image

I potted on some tiny plug plants from GC, watered some of the pots in the greenhouse, and decapitated some of my heuchuras which had gone a bit woody. An article I had read previously said you could use these bits as cuttings to make new plants so I've potted these up as well - has anybody else done this and do they survive?

The weather's horrible in Bath today, dry'ish but very overcast and quite chilly, so I didn't stay out long. Hope to plant some more delphiniums over the weekend if we get some sunshine - a big ask for a Bank Holiday weekend!

You hit your head Edd. The myth that you can see stars in daytime from the bottom of a well, is well a myth. image

Potted-on 96 tomato plants today - 17 of the 20 varieties (old seeds from up to 10 years ago I found during a clearout) had germinated on the heated bench and were shooting up - methinks I've overdone it yet again! image  Then guess what arrived?  Yep, 10 tomato plants I'd ordered as a backup, just in case..  image

A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.
  • Nope, perfectly normal if a bit unusual.

Happens when you shade out the light from the sun when the sun is low in the sky, effectively making the patch right above you dark. I've made a hoop of explaining it, but that's the principle. *edit* Turns out thats bunkum, most resonable explanation is disturbed dust blowing up and catching sunlight.

Spent the day digging out my dead Fuschias and poking seeds into compost filled propagators. I now have one full of 3" coir pots of White Clover, Thyme, Basil, Oregano and Chives. The other three are full of Borage, Birdsfoot Trefoil and Agastache ( I think!)
