had my new toy out again to-day ( garden shredder I got on freecycle) removed some self sown buddliaeas and a 3m tall pittisporum which had decided to lean over in a rather sad way.
Wrapped plastic mesh round the posts of the pergola and started retraining the roses. I have to confess I allowed a passion flower to get a bit big for its boots last year and the roses suffered. PF gone now. so tlc for the roses this year and give them some clematis for company soon.
OH rotavated half the veggie garden this morning. I had to get up the weed surpressant fabric first and dig up the rest of the leeks (now in the freezer). This afternoon I finished clearing up prunings from yesterday, swept the flower garden terrace, always full of dead leaves after the winter. Then I pruned the Paul's Scarlet Climber rose, had lots of branches (fewer now), lots of prickles and involved a ladder.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
I have two Paul's Scarlets BL that were a matching pair until the arch fell down and I moved one. It's taken four years to recover and is going for it big time this year. I still remember your beautiful rose foliage from last year and set that as my standard this year, so I'm working hard to significantly reduce my blackspot
Did a lot of weeding in the back garden. Dug up the perpetually non-flowering Sedum which has never been anything but a giant waste of space. Decided to lift the last gravel area from the front garden and move the two ornamental Acers from under the front window into the new area. Tomorrow I'll be raking a big lump of the mossy side lawn to scatter my Wildflower Seeds.
Early morning raid on the GC this morning, waiting for some deliveries so I can get my hanging baskets planted up. Can't do much on the veg plot, rain over the weekend, I just want to get going with it all now.
Was foggy here this morning but now it is georgous. Ive cut back a couple of salvias. Tied in the new clematis and sorted out all the supports for the perennials. Then I attacked the Japanese Anemone with Glysophate. Again.
Have discovered that my Escallonia has Leaf Spot and according to RHS not much that can be done. It's not been happy for a couple of years but I didn't realise what it was. Never mind out it comes and a new planting opportunity is found
Just back in again quick spot of lunch then back at it have decided to enlarge one of the boarders you know what it like the turfs off just got to dig it over, got nothing to go in it but just could not resist.
I feel another trip to the GC is requierd
If you have a garden and a library, you have everything you need.

Today I turned over a new bed for potatoes
Cut the grass along the borders and edges
Used a bamboo cage to hold up a fallen PSB stem
hoed between the onions and garlic
pulled up some cabbages that weren't doing anything but get in the way
pulled up some mint, as above
I only planned to go and check on things

Still hazy here, my plug plants have arrived though, off to do the hanging baskets.
