GWRS my radishes have been growing in my greenhouse for the last month, but I wasn't sure if you had to plant them out, going to keep them in the greenhouse as its warmer in there.

Yes it's been lovely in the NW too and warmed up nicely, not enough to sun bath though : )

Morning all.  Sorry to hear about your ear Marion. I also have a problem with one of mine, but mine comes from living in the tropics for 13 years and getting what was called locally "tropical ear". All these later (since 1974) , that ear is a problem.  I often have subtitles on the TV so that Hubby doesnt have to have the volume adjusted to my needs.

Flumpy, hope you get to enjoy your radishes.

We'Ve got a dry day here, but as windy as anything. the trees are going crazy.  Slept very heavily last night and didn't get going until after 9 am, so feeling a bit guilty now, but too bad About that!  image

  • I slept last night as well Pat after the sleepless night before and a day of constant pain but my eldest daughter who is a nurse told me I could safely take more paracetamo; and I had 6 hours sleep for which I feel much stronger and able to stand the earache which is still bad.  We have a week of glorious fine weather forecast so should be able to spend all the daylight hours up the garden in the peace and quiet.

  • My Secret gardening Co plants have been redelivered and are none the worse for spending the weekend in the Royal Mail depot.  The postie smiled at my note on the door begging him not to take plants back to the depot as they could die there.  Here they are repotted and labelled.  Nine huge plants for less than £10.  Three each of Cephalaria(giant yellow scabious), Anemanthele (pheasant's tail grass). and Crocosmia George Davidson (lemon).

They look very good.  I'm sure you are going to get lots of pleasure from them.  Good bargain, too!

  • I cannot believe we have been forecast good weather like today to last till Sunday at least.  I worked till gone 6pm as was still basking in sunshine.  The jobs I did today included some more tidying and window washing in the conservatory, planted some hyacinths in pots, repotted 9 new plants that had just arrived,  filled one of my big weed baskets with brambles nettles and bindweed. Cleaned one of the veg, raised beds ready to plant out winter veg. with Glyphosate,Started to tidy up the front garden, and harvested a big bag of Conference pears and Worcester Pearmain apples.  If i do that for six days I will be really happy with my preparations for next year.

Wow, Marion. Did you even stop for meals?  Such a lot of work.

i planted a lot of seeds in preparation for spring (in the propagator). I'm not sure they'll survive, but it would be good to get them on their way early.  I usually don't plant tomatoes out in the garden beds until Melbourne Cup weekend (early November), but at least if they are big enough and the weather is not good, I can get them into larger pots in the GH.  Time will tell.

  • Another lovely day in Bristol.  Yes Pat. a quick sandwich and a couple of apples straight off the tree for lunch!  Drinks are another thing though.  i take a flask of tea or coffee with me and often pop in for a glass of water (with paracetamols yesterday as the pain in my ears was still bad).  One ear seems better this morning as the pain is all in the right ear and an ache rather than an acute pain so I think the peace and quiet is working.  But I had another good night's sleep so that too should be a help.  I do hope i can get another full day's work in again today.
