Lovely sunny day today and calm and not too cold so just right for pruning - grapevines and buddleia needing done. I have done all the washing up now from yesterdays visitors and generally tidied up so will go out with a clear conscience. I have removed the greenhouse heater from the conservatory so it will not switch itself on. My fuel consumption should go down the more serious and careful i am. I noticed a nice pot of applemint still with mint leaves on up the potager yesterday so will bring that in, shear it and soon get fresh mint in the kitchen
This is the best time to plant Cyclamen coum - in the green. Buy a pot with the flowers showing colour and plant out. They come in all shades of pink and white. It is perfect gardening weather in Bristol but I just had to take a breather and snap these buds from a red patio rose I bought two summers ago in Wisley which never stops flowering.
Hi Marion, your Cyclamen looks lovely and such a lovely deep colour, is the weather still warm in Bristol?, it's gone milder here and dry today, just ashame I was in work because it rained all day on New Year
I think I shall have to edit my paragraphs better flumpy1. That is a picture of buds on my patio rose. The Cyclamen conversation was for Busy-Lizzie who could not find Cyclamen coum for sale in France. But you can buy a Cyclamen coum which has deep red flowers.
Change in the weather again and garden very wet. Glad I got out in the sunshine yesterday. Forecasters say it will be bright again tomorrow but very cold frost everywhere tonight so must hunker down everything tonight. I am keeping the hundreds of plants I have on windowsills and in the conservatory pretty dry now but could pick off all the withered leaves today.
Wow NewBoy2 lives a mile or two one side of me and Fruitcake a mile or so the other! Wonderful to have internet friends so near. I have had visits from fb friends who live much farther away eg Reading, Derby, London, and even Spain and USA. There are going to be lots of extra plants in my trials for Mr. Fothergill's Nation of Gardeners this year so perhaps my near friends who both have allotments can give them good homes? One of my aims to help the Green Capital of Europe which you should all know by now is Bristol (Brizzle - NewBoy2) feed itself.

Yes, Lizzie and Lyn , I saw Brunnera Jack Frost growing in Kiftsgate Manor Gardens and it looked super. Will look for that message, NewBoy2.
