Hi Flumpy. How are you? I think the main reason I tend to avoid planting in pots (mostly), is because our rainfall is so low, and pots don't look after themselves like plants in the ground do. I'd really like a bit more regular rain. We're never satisfied are we?
Its so nice to use this thread. You and Marion always respond as though you have read and looked at what has been written.
Hi Pat your probably asleep by now, it's 1.30 pm here and my hubby is watching football, he supports Arsenal, the Suns just popping out so I think I may just sit in the garden again : ) I might see my friend Robin again : ).
I'm ok Pat, I've just one more week off then back to work : ( not really looking forward to it.
It's lovely to see your getting spring flowers now, how long do your winters last?
Hi again Flumpy it's 11 pm now, so we are still up - watching a program about the history of the atomic/ nuclear bombs. Not very happy.
im hoping that our winter is easing soon, but there is more cold weather predicted this week. It was so nice to spot those hellebores today. It must be a result of the three warmer days. All last week while Julie and Gordon were here, we basically stayed inside because it was so miserable. As soon as they left, the days were sunny and about 20degrees - typical.
Hey Pat don't be having bad dreams of bombs, my hubby is at work, I'm off because of what happened a few weeks ago, the doctor advices me to rest, my mum and dad visit twice a week and my brother on Friday. It's gone grey again here so no sitting in the garden : (.
I have worked myself to a standstill today clearing a border in the Butterfly garden which i have new plants for as it seems we may have some rain tonight or tomorrow. My neighbour was putting his artwork back into the "windows" in his new wall now he and his wife have painted it cream. There were butterflies everywhere even when it grew cloudy. But it is very warm and humid. My green wheeliebin is full again. Just going to put my chicken in the oven for supper.
It is a large border so I have grown from plugs into large plants - osteospermums.polyanthus for the spring, lots of oriental poppies, aquilegia in variety. I have lots of ivy and holly up there as backdrop and ground cover so the holly blue has two broods a year there. There is also a great deal of buddleia already. My snowdrops are nearby for the winter as a lot of butterflies overwinter with me and come out to feed whenever the sun shines. I have lots of herbs growing in pots in the potager which I will plant out in the new border and use their terra cotta pots for bulbs for the spring. I have lots of large clumps of chives which i am thinking of splitting to make a pretty edging.
I've noticed there's a lot more butterfly's and bees this year, I've have bought a lot more osteospermums, sedums etc ho not forgetting the sweet peas the bees seem to like too

Flumpy, hope you enjoy your week. If the weather is good, do something special for yourselves.
Marion what have you been up to today?
