I reckon taking pics does not count as heavy manual work so here they are.

My friend of the tiny garden has just emailed me pics of his red tulip collection, now all in flower.

Very damp out in the garden so we have had some welcome rain.  It certainly feels fresher if a little cooler.  The  wind has scattered a few tulip leaves as well on to my paths.  Shopping for plants this afternoon at a big garden centre. The gardener on Points West last night said there will probably be lots of perennial bargains about so we shall see.  I ordered a wheelbarrow with puncture less tyres yesterday from a local supplier which should be with me Monday so getting the compost to the raised beds and the weeds down to the green wheeliebin should be easier.I also ordered a solar light on a stand for the kitchen patio to make it easier to put the key in the back door when I come home in the dark.  All paid for by smaller food bills as i am now eating up last year;s garden crop of fruit and veg since this years is on its way,  Rhubarb needs picking.  Freezer space needs freeing up.

These white hyacinths are called "Carnegie".  They certainly have a very rich perfume and are good companions to my Orange Emperor tulips.  Both bulbs are flowering for the second year in pots.  This year I will plant them in the garden.and let them multiply.

Some lovely colours there Marion, I bet you can't wait to get planting, glad you enjoyed your afternoon image.

i was in my garden, but just had a complete shock when walking to my bin, do you remember me mentioning the pest control coming round because we have had a Rat nesting under the decking, well ........I've just found a large dead rat next to my greenhouse, my stomach turned inside out, oh I can't eat my tea yet image

Oh how rotten for you, flumpy.  At least if he is dead and outside the house you do not have the horror of the smell under the floor boards which takes months to disappear.  Lovely weather again today and no rain forecast till next Friday at least so lots of gardening on the cards for me.
