Over twenty plants flowering in my garden on New Years Day when it reached 14 degrees.  Best show from Jasmine nudiflorum, Iris unguicularis and the white and pink heathers.

  • I missed NYD count but spent yesterday in the garden and found

    Primrose

    Rose

    Alpine geranium

    Cyclamen coum

Oriental Poppy bud? (if that counts! It had an earlier flower a couple of weeks ago)

    Fuschia

    Trailing lobelia.

    Scabious,( battered.)

    Ragged Robin

Pittosporium ?( Evergreen, has sweetly scented deep cream flowers in terminal clusters)

Daphne B? Very upright growth, sweetly scented, pale pink terminal flower clusters, pale green leaves.

    Christmas Box.

    Camellia soulangeii.

    (Snowdrop tips.)

    (Jonquil tips.)

I do not think the buds count officially.

My 'almost', every year, is Cornus mas.

This year for the first time Helleborus foetidus, a regular  'almost' was in flower

It was the first hellebore I ever saw, hundreds of years ago, Philippa. We moved to a tied farm cottage and it was in the garden, I had no idea what it was.

Had to wait for my mum to visit. She was hot on wild plantsimage
