Not impressed with mine this year.

Do they get old and worn out?

Some of the largest are the most disappointing.image

  • Not sure about getting played out, but saw some exciting new strains this week , recently bred and launched in this country. Loads of flower stems. Sorry but didn't catch the name, but will look out for them.

Maybe mine are becoming inbred and sick WW. image

I don't want to spend real money on new stock until I'm sure the old ones aren't diseased. If I've got a virus it'll just spread

  • Virus likely to look like horrid black leaves/blotches?image

No, nothing black, but there is some distortion. I can't find anything on line and I asked on the forum last year and nobody could diagnose the problem. I've chucked the worst offenders or I'd post another photo

I had one that had horrible black leaves. All new shoots came through the same. It was a harvington hellebore that I bought last year from wyevale. I dug it up and took it back .  All my old ones a few feet away are fine, and the new ones from Ashwoods are fine.

  • Diana Guy said you should ignore the advice on the label which tends to be very general. She said full sun was fine.
