I have a dark green one, with red spotting though. We may have a purely dark green one too, somewhere, so they do exist.

Our problem now is that the plants we would like to have to add to the menagerie are well out of our price range.

I  bought a darkish green one this year  at the back end of summer, don't know if it was dark green because it had been out for a while and darkened.but I will take notice next year  and save you some seed if your wanting to try some  should it be  the dark green as it was bought.I will photograph and try to post some on here.

They dont always come true from seeds though, I did some 2 years ago but they all came out a pinky/white. It fills a space but not very spectacular, I think you need to set several in the hopes of getting a true one.

Can you chop them in half to divide like other perennials?

Verdun, could you let me who the breeder is near you please, ?

You can divide clumps of Hellebores when they get big and over-crowded. This is done in September/October as they form new roots in Autumn. Any other time of year is less successful.

To get plants to breed true you need to get into plant breeding techniques as they do at Ashwood,s to create a seed strain.
