hellebores

I have several large hellebores, do you cut them back as some of the leaves are browning?

Yes. Cut all the old leaves off now, and don't compost them.

I have always composted the old leaves. They do take a while to rot, but never had any trouble with them and we have a few hundred Hellebores, so there is a lot of leaves to get rid of.

No problems with any of our plants as far as the dreaded Black Death is concerned. (Bows to Hubris). Mind the compost does not go on the flower beds, it is totally used on the Veg patch. The flower beds get shredded bark mulch and Bonemeal.

Pictures I have, but not sure how to put them in a reply. They are all on Photobucket somewhere and no longer on my computer.

I er, rarely collect the seed these days, most of it just falls to the ground round the plants which is probably why we have a few hundred of them!
