Hosta, would you really add sheep poo? Have plenty of that at our place but never thought of using it. Naughty dogs just roll in it so to be able to lift and use would be great

Thats is a good idea but I find they rust out on the joins where the screws go in. We have already replaced one, OH made a wooden one, and now the other has gone. Its very exposed up here and very damp and windy, long 2 x 2 s banged well into the ground seems to work, its the tops that go.
The obelisks have lasted just 3 years, although it was only the plants holding them up last year!
Gardening on the wild, windy west side of Dartmoor.
the roses I'm awaiting are 'The Generous Gardener' 'The Lark Ascending' and 'The Herbalist'... the first two are for the obelisks...the other one elsewhere...
..I got two of these, although I didn't get them from this site, but from the one mentioned above on this thead, which was a bit cheaper than this one... these are probably made in China...cheap and cheerful but they will do the job for me for a few years I hope... I already have some smaller ones and very pleased with them... it's the shape I like so much...
..I've just remembered I've got some roses still to come from Beales as well, so I can't put my feet up just yet... I shall probably put them in on Christmas Day, weather permitting.... I have found it's usually a great day for gardening...

I think I am pretty much ready for the compost to go on, hopefully crack it by next weekend.
There is a lot of greenhouse work bug that can be done anytime.

Good tip for extra staking Lyn. I'm also torn between an arch and an obelisk but hope to have both eventually.
Thanks for the links Edd and Lyn
Lyn... I love that arch... and it's not too wide either... I hadn't noticed that one before... oh well...
..I used to concrete in my arches when I had them... I found it quite easy to do and made such a difference...

Main garden job is to Bubble rap the G/H
Need to trim willows , ash , hawthorn and Apple trees some time
bits of cleaning up still to do , allways a few jobs to do
Happy gardening everybody
Lily Pilly, sheep manure is fab stuff. It'll end up all mixed up with the leaves and grass and by next Spring it'll be ready to use as a mulch.
Salino the obelisks will look really good as you have described
Have you pic of them?
