I worked in a pharmacy in Mansfield, a new build next to a Tesco. We had a man have a heart attack in the shop and die, clutching on to and clearing a bay of shelves as he went down. Many times after that, we would often come in in the morning, to find an entire bay of sanitary products would be scattered all over the floor. We thought at first, someone had left the fan heaters on, or it was windy, but we never had a real reason. We made sure everything was OK at night, all heaters off, nothing unstable, and then again in the morning there would be stuff scattered all over the floor. Sometimes odd things would drop off in the day. We used to exclaim. "Harold, stop it". we were convinced we had the spirit of the dead man chucking stuff around. Fairly harmless, he never broke anything.
My grandad died when I was eight and for the next few months I used to feel the sheets on my bed go tight across my feet and the matress sink as though someone was sitting on it. I knew it was grandada so I used to chat away telling him about school etc. One night mum came in and asked who I was talking to and when I told her she said it was because he had sat hours with me when I'd been very ill and I was dreaming about that. After "breaking the spell" and telling mum I didn't experience a visit again
My thoughts are we all have more senses than people think, it does not stop at 5 or 6 or more. I always obeyed the hairs on my neck which did stand up telling you to back off, pretty handy as a Soldier. Mother was fey but did not talk about it and I do believe children are born with knowledge that leaves them as they get older, probably an ancient defence mechanism who knows. Things have happened that make me stop and think and you keep quiet because people may or may not mock you. All I will say I knew to the second when my Mother died though I was not with her and also to the second when my mother in law died, she was here in a dementia ward and I was in Cyprus. She knew no one but when I went in her hand would come out and she would whisper "I knew you would come Charles" ? she lost three boy friends during the first world war but who Charles was we never knew, she just hung on to my hand until we had to leave. What do we know, you cannot destroy energy and that last spark must be there with us as it leaves the body for the last time. more things in heaven and on earth as they say.
Frank - that's very true,we are all made up of energy and that can't be destroyed, only change form.
Pauline - that really is sad, bless your Mum and you.
fidget - either yourself or your family (or both) seem to have a strong connection with paranormal events
Clarington - that must be quite disturbing?
KEF - {{{{hugs}}}} for you. I'm sure he still watches over you.
There has been very little worthy of note in my own family and nothing at all regarding myself. However, I remember my Mum telling me that a woman customer in a local shop made her hair stand on end. She didn't know why and had never seen the woman before, only that she felt repelled by her.
Also my eldest brother, when he was about 18,messed around with an ouija board. He told me that he and two friends did the usual asking questions routine so he picked a question he was confident they couldn't answer. With each of them having one finger on a glass,he asked the name of his deceased grandmother and the glass spelt out her name. He's very down to earth, not fanciful in any way but swears it is the truth.
I'm not a believer I must say, however I'll relate the story of my deceased step father. A week before his first heart attack he was sitting at home when he swears he saw a hooded figure standing in front of him, he described it as a Monk. 7 days later the heart attack came. He survived thanks to prompt treatment. He survived for another year. Until the second appearance of the hooded figure, this time also seen by my mother. He died that night of a massive heart attack.
I have to say I am finding this thread very interesting.. I have myself had a 'Close Encounter of the Third kind ' with a sprit child whilst on holiday in Loch Awe Hotel in Scotland.. This hotel is known to be haunted and I have the privilege to be a Medium as well as a Gardener ..
I lay in my bed trying to sleep without success, suddenly the atmosphere in the room changed and the hairs on the back of my neck stood up. I felt a vibrate behind me as a pair of hands reached under the duvet and grasped my clothing, there was a steady pull and a fold of my clothing gave way.. /the little hands reached back and began to pull again, I decided to turn quickly to see who it was..
I had a distinct impression of a small emaciated young girl of about 9, with straggly fair hair and a grubby white night gown.. She looked very emaciated with a pale blueish tinge and in a split second she was gone..
it turns out this was 'Clara a youmg girl who was neglected and ill treated by her mother and basically starved to death...
There were many reports and two the time I stayed there...
The thing is, when it actually happens to you, you are so enthralled you do mot have any fear what so ever.. It was not my first experience... I have never been scared...

What sort of strange things?
Sometimes I think time is a funny thing and the past and the present get muddled up.

Do I believe no, but each to their own.
